Doubt is a funny thing. It arises from a sequence of events that inhibit your ability to hope for a better future.
Hope conversely is a lack of any concrete knowledge of what is to happen, only a human, intuitive thought about what could possibly go right.
I am not someone who is linear, up and down, left and right. I’m someone who goes through change aggressively and there is no one binary direction I can take.
To work with me, to be my friend, to be able to withstand the human shit storm that is my life and my personality, you need to trust. And if you weren’t receptive to my interest in showing you who I am, the open door I provide for you to ask any and all questions about me, good luck trying when the door is closed.
Being a friend to me is hard. It takes trust and it takes GUTS.
And if you choose to doubt me - good fucking luck. Because in those quiet moments when you think that everything is fine or that you have everything under control and that you have even a figment of an imaginative thought that you can get the best of me - watch out. Because i’m in your blind spot, I’m in every nook and cranny you look, but can’t see.
The best version of me is not someone you see, it’s someone you don’t. Because I’m up when you’re not, I’m grinding while your soft head is on the pillow. And when you think that nothing has happened, I’ve pulled 10 miles ahead of you.
Don’t boubt me, put me down, leave me to my own devices: because it will be your worst regret when I leave you in the dust while I’m powering ahead.
I’m going to be the best fucking thing that I can be and I damned well know it’s better than whatever you have up your tiny little sleeve.
Connor Byrne is a coffee lover, endurance athlete, and digital creative based out of Michigan.
He is the founder of Condu Coaching, a nutrition consultancy, and the creator of I Will Not Quit, a podcast sharing stories about perseverance.
While attending Catholic Central High School, Connor was able to develop skills and interest in creative mediums. Djing at basketball games, taking photos at school soccer games, and creating posters for clubs and program covers for the football team were just the beginning of a long list of creative opportunities for Connor to foster his true interest: Creativity.
In anything that Connor has applied himself to, creativity was at the core of any successful outcome. On the soccer field, creativity helped come up with strategies to win the game. In founding an on-campus fraternity, creativity is what helped increase the exposure of the Phi Delta Theta organization to interested students.
During his most recent pursuit, completing a half-ironman triathlon, Connor is using creativity to help grow a community around health, wellness, and endurance sports on social media.
Connor has been an amateur writer (in private) for a couple of years. He has been a writer at connorbyrne.net since June 2020.
